Heuristic: Formal Language
-
Swiss Air Building
-
The Atheneum
Our second design draws from Richard Meier’s Swiss Air Headquarters and the Atheneum, combining their structural logic and spatial character. From the Swiss Air building, we adopted its modular grid system and clean, linear organization, which informed the overall layout and circulation. Inspired by the Atheneum, we incorporated a curved community space that acts as a central gathering area, creating a sense of movement and openness within the design. We also used the exposed structural framework as a guiding pattern, allowing the structure itself to define rhythm, proportion, and light. This integration of formal geometry and expressive structure results in a design that is both ordered and dynamic, reflecting Meier’s architectural language in a contemporary way.
